NYNow Gift Show

Hello Customers and Friends,

It was a pleasure to see so many returning and new customers at the NY Now Gift Show last week. Thanks for finding  us in our new upstairs booth location.

For those of you who didn’t attend (and for those who did too) I thought you’d like to hear our take on it in a few brief points.

  1.  Aisles were busy, attendance appeared to be strong. Mixed reactions from vendors and buyers on the new booth locations – interspersing Textiles with Home Furnishings? It might take some getting used to.
  2. Growth in demand for cotton sleepwear – all 4 of our new designs were winners. J
  3. Trend to monochromatic tones shown in many booths. Our new cream Holiday Wreath on a Natural Linen was a knockout!
  4. Buyers still enjoy the benefits of touching and feeling – whether at a trade show or in a retail store.
  5. The January 2014 NY Now show will be interesting. Superbowl meets Gift Buying. Make your plans now!

I’d love to hear from you – please contact us if you need anything or have any questions. Please like us on Facebook too – we will do the same for you.
Happy back to school season!

Jacaranda Living's Trip to the Atlanta Gift Show at the AmericasMart!

What an adorable display. The You Are My Sunshine pillow was one of our most popular items this show, along with our linen guest towels in the top right corner!

The lingerie bag hanging below our guest towels were our newest products this show. They are great to take with you when traveling for lingerie items, boxers for men, and other small clothing items.

Our waffle weave guest towels and slippers are embroidered in South Africa and were a great success at the AmericasMart this year. Find more images on our website. Monogramming is available on linen or waffle weave towels, cosmetic bags and slippers as well.

This was a special show. The working girls in their booth.

Our Cheerful Sunshine Pillows

You Are My Sunshine Pillow:

We just love our Sunshine Pillows because of the story behind the product. The pillows are made by a group of women living on a farm in our mother country, South Africa. These women have learned their skills to crochet, embroider and applique to create this naive art on linen using their own creativity. Many of these women are the sole breadwinners of large extended families, and have to care for nieces, nephews and grandchildren in the absence of parents who have died from AIDS. They are paid a fair wage and work in a pleasant working environment.
By using natural, non-dyed linen and factory remnants as far as possible, they are able to reduce the carbon footprint in the creation of each item.

I appreciate their beautiful work so much and love having the cheerful pillow in our living room. The women use remnants of yarns and fabric pieces to create this smiling sun and happy words on linen. I hope you enjoy the pillow as much as we do. :)

Jacaranda Living Launches It's Spin On Ginger Jars

Jacaranda Living is so excited to be launching a new collection of embroidered linens featuring the classic blue Ginger Jar on both a white pallet and on natural linen. A wonderfully unexpected and fresh complement to any room, the popular Ginger Jars as blue and white decor accents will make any room pop with delight. Recognized for their wide selection of classic and contemporary embroidery designs, the Ginger Jar is a natural fit for Jacaranda's bed and bath linens.

Why the Ginger Jar?

Owner Cathy Deale explains that the Ginger Jar was always used as a storage canister for food staples including ginger. Today, Cathy wants to bring back the historic Ginger Jar and is launching it as one of her new products. The product has the character for double happiness and have often been given as wedding gifts. "We chose the patterns with flowers because of our love for flowers at Jacaranda Living!" says founder, Cathy Deale.

So, are Ginger Jars part of a trend, or just one of those beautiful accent items that started out serving a purpose and then became a classic and forever decorating staple? "We think that like a candle that started out to fill a need for light and now fills our need for ambiance, the Ginger Jar is here to stay."
